Prepare for Frozen Pipes!

• Frosted pipes
• No running water or low water pressure
• Odd noises from an ice buildup in the pipe
• Wet marks in areas of your home that can signify a water leak

To help prevent a frozen pipe, open your outdoor hose bibs to remove any excess water before it freezes.  Shut off the outdoor water valves.

Set your thermostat at a consistent temperature and insulate areas that are more prone to the cold such as the attic.  Exposed pipes should also be insulated.

During drastically cold weather, cabinet doors can be left open to help allow more warm air to reach the pipes.  Open your faucet to allow water to slowly drip, preventing the water from freezing.  Should you discover a frozen pipe, you can use a heating pad to thaw the pipe.  Additional assistance may be needed.
